Shock and awe

i dont know why i continue to be shocked by what I hear pass as expertise in mass media these days. today, i was listening to NPR. the story was something about judicial oversight and activist judges or something or other. what i heard clearly was this:

some man saying that he thought overall the judiciary was doing a good job and that a new post or agency should not be created to oversee it.

Brilliant, i thought to myself, a guy with his head in the air rather than up his ass.

but, i spoke too soon. whoever the guy was, had the audacity to say that the judiciary was doing one thing wrong. what was that I asked to my empty passenger seat? probably some bullshit about judicial activism the seat responded, mocking me.

“the courts and judges should leave national security to the executive branch.”

WHAT THE FUCK, i screamed, exhaling a plume of cigarette smoke. did he really just say that?

what is that mr prez, you want to detain american citizens without cause? well, if you think that is best, beaver…

what is that mr cia, you want to wiretap every arab speaking person in the country? well, if you think that is best, beaver…

exterminate habeas corpus? well, if you think that is best, beaver…

torture people? well, if you think that is best, beaver…

force internet companies and software makers to install backdoors for the fbi you say? well, if you think that is best, beaver…

Where the fuck do they get these people?
